Brodie Kostecki makes shock Supercars return in New Zealand

Reigning Supercars champion Brodie Kostecki will make his return in the coming round at Taupo in New Zealand next weekend for Erebus Motorsport.

“I’m excited to be back behind the wheel again, I needed some time away to prioritise my health,” said Kostecki.

“I’m grateful for the support, privacy and time Betty [Klimenko, tean owner], Barry [Ryan, CEO], and the team have given me.”

Kostecki was replaced by Todd Hazelwood less than a month before the Bathurst season opener under controversial circumstances and has missed the first two rounds.

“On behalf of Betty and the team, we are pleased Brodie is ready to drive again. Having Brodie back to work alongside Jack as he becomes more familiar with our cars will be a positive for our entire team,” said Ryan, Erebus Motorsport CEO.

Hazelwood will resume his role as co-driver during the endurance rounds for the team while team-mate Jack Le Brocq will continue to race the second Chevrolet Camaro of the team.

“A big thanks to Todd. He performed brilliantly under considerable pressure and scrutiny, so hats off to him,” said Ryan.

“We look forward to having him at the test day this week and back in the seat for the enduros later in the year.”
