Cam Waters next to secure NASCAR Cup outing

Cam Waters will become the latest driver from Supercars to make an appearance in the NASCAR Cup Series when he joins the grid at Sonoma Raceway.

Waters will join the RFK Racing team for the event next month in what will be his Cup Series debut, with the 29-year-old having previously made two starts in the Craftsman Truck Series.

The event is scheduled to take place between the Supercars meetings in Perth and Darwin, with Waters competing at the wheel of the #60 Ford Mustang being run as part of RFK’s Stage 60 Programme.

That programme is similar to the one that Trackhouse Racing used to give Shane van Gisbergen his debut last year.

“This opportunity for me is a dream come true and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series,” Waters said.

“I’ve been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road-racing experience to the test this summer. It takes a village to make something like this come to fruition.”

Will Brown has also been linked to an outing at Sonoma with Richard Childress Racing.
