Junui Park wins drying second TCR Europe Cup race at Spa
Junui Park won the second and final TCR Europe Cup race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps from seventh on the grid in drying conditions.
The field started the race after two laps behind the safety car due to the drying conditions.
Aikoa Racing driver Nicola Baldan pulled into the pits just before the start of the race due to a technical issue, just as his team-mate Nicolas Taylor did in Race 1, and lost a lap on the leaders.
As the field was released, there was contact between Victor Fernández and Sandro Pelatti, with the latter hitting the wall at La Source and retired from the race.
BRC Hyundai driver Gabriele Covini headed the field from pole position, but his lead only lasted for one lap as he pitted due to an engine issue.
This handed the lead to Honda driver Leonel Pernía who soon came under pressure from Solite Indigo Racing driver Park.
Park went around the outside of Pernía at Les Combes on lap four and quickly pulled up a gap in the lead.
Honda driver Sergio López snatched third place from Aikoa Racing driver Giacomo Prandelli who then came under attack from Cupra driver Viktor Andersson.
Andersson managed to steal fourth place in the final corner of the final lap.
Park won by close to three seconds over Pernía while López was a distant third, more than eight seconds behind the leader.
Andresson finished fourth ahead of Prandelli and Rubén Fernández.
The second and final TCR Europe Cup race will be held at Barcelona on September 18-20.
