Michele Imberti wins first TCR Italy race of 2026 at Imola

Michele Imberti headed an uneventful first TCR Italy race of the season at Imola from lights to flag, winning by more than three seconds ahead of Audi driver Denis Babuin.

The Hyundai driver started from pole position and got a solid getaway while Babuin got the jump on rival Audi driver Matteo Poloni who started from the front row.

Babuin was close to Imberti initially, but the Hyundai driver soon pulled away and extended his lead to 3.1 seconds in the end.

Poloni was close to Babuin in the fight for second place, but never attempted a pass.

Aikoa Racing driver Paolo Rocca made it three Audis in the top four while championship newcomer Ramiro Zago (Honda) finished fifth for MM Motorsport.

Carlo Alberto Bocca finished sixth for BF Motorsport while Sandro Pelatti and Petr Cizek rounded off the top eight.

The second and final race of the weekend starts at 11:25 CEST on Sunday.
