Santiago Urrutia: “There is still plenty of work to do”
Santiago Urrutia claimed an important second victory for Geely Cyan Racing in the second FIA TCR World Tour race of the weekend at Valencia to extend his championship lead, but also achieving a crucial pole position for the final race.
“Two victories in two races, that’s great,” the Uruguayan told TouringCarTimes.
“For two years I had to do my job, sometimes I was ahead and I had to let someone through, so now it’s good.”
The grid for Race 3 is formed as per the addition of points claimed from the first two races, giving Urrutia the pole position.
“I’ve had a good start in Valencia, with two victories in two races, but we still have to improve the car a lot, especially since we start Race 3 from pole position,” the Geely driver said.
“We need to improve our starts and we must continue down this path, it’s very positive for the championship to score points like this, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Urrutia also explained how he has prepared for this season.
“Sometimes you mature a bit more, you work differently, but you also need luck on your side,” said Urrutia.
“So it’s a combination of a lot of things but, like my manager said, we have to take it one race at the time and continue focused.”
