Santiago Urrutia: “Everything came together for me today”

Geely Cyan Racing’s Santiago Urrutia achieved his first victory in the TCR World Tour since 2023 in Saturday’s Race 1 in Valencia, host of the second round of the 2026 season.

The Geely driver started from third on the grid behind team-mates Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk. He overtook the Swede at the start, and inherited second place after the Frenchman’s retirement.

Hyundai’s Mikel Azcona’s tyre failure paved the way for Urrutia to ultimately score the win.

“I am very happy, it had been a long time since I had won in the World Tour,” Urrutia told TouringCarTimes.

“It’s difficult to compete, it’s a high level and I have very fast team-mates, but everything came together here.”

Urrutia driver leads the championship with 80 points, one ahead of Björk and nine over Azcona, with two more races to go in the Valencia weekend.
