Anis secures Hyundai win in race two at GP3R

Sasha Anis took the win in the second race at Grand Prix de Trois Rivières, as race one winner Marc-Antoine Camirand retired with mechanical problems.

Anis took the lead early on, leading team mate Bob Attrell, seemingly on target for a G1 Racing Hyundai 1-2. This was until first David Ciekiewicz passed Attrell on lap 15, and then on the final lap, after a last minute safety car period, a hard charging Mattiau Audette, who had started 31st, got pass Ciekiewicz to claim second place in the Super Touring category.

In the Touring Class, it was Durabond/Compass 360 Racing’s Karl Thomson’s turn to take the win, as the team took it’s second podium clearout of the weekend. Durabound/Compass 360 Racing team-mates Anthony Rapone & Greg Liefooghe finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, though Liefgooche had to fight hard to get past Jacques Bélanger’s BMS Racing Honda Civic.

Although it was a quiet weekend for Lombardi Racing’s Nick Wittmer, he still leads the championship with 1,079 points from David Ciekiewicz on 973.

In Touring, Anthony Rapone has 1,167 points to team mate Karl Thomson’s 1,042 – with Octane Motorsport’s Michael Sallenbach in third on 1,013.
