Andrew Jordan fastest in second Brands Hatch practice session

Reigning independents’ champion Andrew Jordan was fastest in the second free practice session at the British Touring Car Championship season opener Brands Hatch.

Jordan set his best time of 48.383 in the final minute of the session in his Eurotech Racing Honda Civic, pipping Honda Racing’s Gordon Shedden.

Shedden finished ahead of the Triple Eight MG of Jason Plato, Honda Racing’s Matt Neal and an impressive Adam Morgan in the Cicely Racing Toyota Avensis.

The top ten was completed by Jeff Smith, Frank Wrathall, Dave Newsham, Sam Tordoff and Colin Turkington.

The session was reg flagged after only four minutes when Will Bratt’s Rob Austin Racing Audi A4 stopped in a dangerous place at Clearways.

It restarted after a five-minute delay, with Jason Plato and Sam Tordoff jumping to the top of the times in their Triple Eight MGs. Shedden then went fastest on a 48.493, a time which stood for much of the session.

Times started to tumble at the end of the session with Plato, Jordan and Neal all improving in the top five.

Lea Wood was fastest of the Jack Sears Trophy runners, finishing 17th overall in his JWT Performance Vauxhall Vectra, just ahead of James Kaye in the AmD Tuning Volkswagen Golf.

Tom Onslow-Cole completed 18 laps in the Tony Gilham Racing Volkswagen CC, with a best time of 52.305, 3.9 seconds off the pace of Jordan.
