NGTC Renault Megane being built by MDA Wheels

Engineering firm MDA Wheels is building an NGTC specification Renault Megane, and is in discussion with “a number of people” about racing it.

The project is being led by the firm’s director Philip Morgan, the father of Renault Clio Cup racer Alex Morgan. He has commissioned two shells, one of which will be completed as a development car.

Morgan told TouringCarTimes that he is looking to lease the car to a team or a driver, as MDA Wheels is a specialist car commissioner rather than a race team.

A Megane road car with NGTC bodykit has been on display in the Rockingham paddock this weekend.

“This car you see here is the first run of the body components. This is a road car, and we have two race cars under construction. Hopefully we are going to complete one as a development car, and see where we go after that,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes.

“Whether we will lease it to a team, or whether a driver wants to take it to a team, we have got a fairly open mind.

“Obviously it is an unproven product so people aren’t queuing up to get them just yet. But hopefully once we can build the shells the take-up will be good.

“We have been talking to quite a lot of people. It is an uncertain world, but we will build the car and see what happens after that.”
