Second victory for Shane Van Gisbergen in Melbourne

Shane Van Gisbergen made it two victories in two races in Melbourne, crossing the finishing line first just five tenths of a second ahead of Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Craig Lowndes in second.

The Tekno Autosports driver started from pole position and came under hard pressure from Volvo driver Scott McLaughlin during the opening lap. But McLaughlin made a mistake and ran wide, dropping back to fifth position.

Instead it was Lowndes who took up the fight for first, but Van Gisbergen managed to stay ahead to win.

Fabian Coulthard claimed third position ahead of race one pole sitter Michael Caruso in fourth and McLaughlin in fifth.

Garth Tander fended off Jamie Whincup, who had served a five-place grid penalty for squeezing McLaughlin in the first race, to finish sixth.

Jason Bright claimed seventh position ahead of the top Ford Performance Racing driver in the form of Chaz Mostert in ninth position.
