Will Brown beats Chaz Mostert to Bathurst race two win

Will Brown made it two Triple Eight Race Engineering wins from the first two Supercars Championship races of 2024 at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

The Chevrolet driver was involved in a race-long fight with Ford Mustang driver Chaz Mostert.

Race one winner Broc Feeney started from pole position but dropped behind the leading duo as he received a five-second penalty for contact with James Golding on the first lap. Golding dropped down to eighth following the incident.

Walkinshaw Andretti United driver Mostert took the lead at the start but fell behind Brown after a wheel issue during his second pit stop.

Mostert was close to the Triple Eight driver but not close enough to seriously challenge for the lead, finishing 1.5 seconds behind.

Feeney was not far behind the leading duo and came home in third.

The victory has elevated Brown into the championship lead on 288 points, nine more than Feeney and 21 more than Mostert.

Thomas Randle (Ford) finished fourth for Tickford Racing who had to fight hard to keep a recovering Golding (Chevrolet) behind him while David Reynolds (Chevrolet) rounded off the top six.

Next up for the Supercars field is Albert park on March 21-24.
