Triple Eight to test Andrew Jordan in GT BMW

Triple Eight has announced that reigning BTCC champion Andrew Jordan will be given a run in one of its British GT BMW Z4s in a test at Donington Park.

The Banbury-based squad, which is dovetailing its BTCC commitments with a British GT campaign in 2014, will be running Jordan ahead of a planned expansion of its GT programme.

The team recently made its international sportscar debut in the Blancpain Endurance Series and has also taken part in the GT Cup championship.

And team principal Ian Harrison says the Blancpain Sprint Series, Gulf 12 Hours in Abu Dhabi and another outing in Blancpain Endurance Series were all on the team’s radar.

Jordan, aged 25, previously drove for Triple Eight in their final year of running the works Vauxhall programme in the BTCC in 2009. Already this season he has tested an Aston Martin Vantage GT3, and took a podium finish at the FIA World Rallycross Championship round at Lydden Hill last month.

Harrison said: “We’re looking at driver options for the winter GT programme with immediate effect and over the course of the next six to eight weeks we’ll be evaluating some interested parties.

“We’re kicking that off with reigning BTCC champion Andy, who has shown an interest in expanding his current driving commitments across different disciplines. This matches up with our own agenda here at Triple Eight as we look to develop our GT business ahead of the 2015 race season.

“You can expect to see a few familiar faces in the BMWs as we get our plans together for the year ahead, and run experienced drivers alongside our upcoming talent that is under development in our driver programme. It’s an exciting time to be part of Triple Eight right now.”

Jordan will also compete at this year’s Goodwood Revival in September, sharing the family Austin A40 with father and Eurotech Racing team boss Mike Jordan in the St Mary’s Trophy for 1950s saloons.
