Heavy rain causes delays to BTCC schedule

The British Touring Car Championship season-opener at Donington Park remains on hold due to adverse weather conditions.

Heavy rainfall has battered the Leicestershire circuit since the early hours of the morning, which has in-turn caused challenging on-track conditions – specifically at the Old Hairpin, McLeans and Starkey’s.

The BTCC field carried out an exploratory 10-minute warm-up session at midday, with several drivers – including Aiden Moffat, Nick Halstead and Rob Huff – all leaving the track at the Old Hairpin as they attempted pushed on.

Officials are currently assessing when track action can begin, with no support races having been as of yet today.
