Team BMR boss Warren Scott lauds outfit’s swift progress

Team BMR boss and driver Warren Scott lauded the progress made by his team and himself at Silverstone, after netting his personal best finish, and seeing Alain Menu and Aron Smith bring home more silverware.

On a track clearly well suited to the slippery Volkswagen CC, Menu came home a very strong third in race two, sandwiching a pair of fifth-placed finishes. And Smith’s day got progressively better, with a sixth in race one, fifth in race two and second in the finale.

For his part, Scott enjoyed his best weekend in the BTCC to date, scoring a career high ninth in race two, and matching it in race three. The final race was also cause for more celebration, as Jack Goff helped ensure all four of the team’s cars finished in the top 10.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Scott said: “Alain’s [podium] was great – it wasn’t on a reverse grid, he was on the podium with his speed. Aron did his normal thing which is he gets a chance and takes it. They are both bang on the pace – I can’t ask for more than that.

“I think the team has done a cracking job – we’re pushing at the front, and I know it wasn’t a win, but we genuinely showed pace all weekend.”

Scott kept some fairly illustrious company over the course of the day, and said it was a great learning process for himself.

He said: “Top tens were what we dreamed of doing, for me personally. I think I probably showed a little too much respect. I know I had a faster car, but I haven’t finished many races this year, and I was learning from where they made their moves.

“I think I did better from learning that, rather than trying to do something silly. It’s not just a good results weekend – I’ve learned a huge amount.”

On the quintet all finishing in the top 10 in the third race, Scott added: “I’m over the moon – we can only better that by getting a 1-2-3-4!”
