Super Black Racing replaces Schwerkolt Racing

Ford Performance Racing, now going under the new name Prodrive Racing Australia, has confirmed the exit of Charlie Schwerkolt Racing from V8 Supercars. The team will be replaced by Super Black Racing for the 2015 season.

“We had every intention of fulfilling the final year of our agreement but Charlie came to me and asked to be released from his final year. We were reluctant but he has business-related reasons and we’ve reached a mutually agreeable settlement so we are ending our collaboration one year short,” said Tim Edwards, team manager of PRA.

Super Black Racing took part in the 2014 Bathurst 1000 as a wild card entry and will for 2015 run their first ever complete V8 Supercars Championship season.

“After we had such a good experience with PRA at Bathurst last year, it was an easy decision to carry on with them this season in a greater capacity. They have extensive experience across the various facets of the sport and we know they’re going to work incredibly hard to give us the best shot at success,” said Tony Lentino, owner of SBR.

Driver for the #111 SBR Ford Falcon is 19-year-old Kiwi Andre Heimgartner who drove at Bathurst for the team and finished fifth in the Dunlop V8 Supercar series last year.
