Sergey Afanasyev signs for Craft-Bamboo

Sergey Afanasyev has signed for Craft-Bamboo Lukoil to drive a SEAT León in the 2015 TCR International Series.
“The TCR International Series is a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to the season,” said Afanasyev.

The team is going to field three SEAT Leóns in the inaugural TCR season, alongside their one-car FIA World Touring Car Championship programme.

”I am delighted to welcome Sergey to the team, he is a true professional and has already been adapting well to front wheel drive racing. I am sure that he will achieve success this season, he has impressed in his attitude and shown very good pace in testing,” said Richard Coleman, CEO of Craft-Bamboo Racing.

Afanasyev, 26 years old from Moscow, Russia, has previously raced single seaters and finished third overall in the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship and 2011 Auto GP Championship. The Russian last raced in the 2012 FIA GT1 World Championship.

”We conducted several tests, in which I learned the car. The new SEAT Leon is very different from GT cars, but I did not have any problem adapting. Lukoil has a successful experience of competing with SEAT’s, so it didn’t take long to adapt the knowledge and experience to the new generation SEAT Leon,” said Afanasyev.
