War of words between Will Davison and James Courtney

Emotions ran high after the incident between Will Davison and James Courtney in the first V8 Supercars race of the weekend in Tasmania.
“He’s telling me to have a cry and I’ll be right – the arrogance on the bloke’s just pathetic, I feel sorry for him,” said Davison to v8supercars.com.au.

The incident happened in the hairpin of the first lap where Courtney turned Davison around, with the Holden Racing Team driver saying that he was pushed from behind.

“I was drilled in the back from Mostert that’s pushed me into him. He’s the one that spun around – I can understand his agro, but I just said, look mate have a look at the vision and come back and you’re yelling at the wrong guy here. But I can understand he’s upset, they’ve been struggling for pace and to have that happen is upsetting for him,” said Courtney.

The excuse was something the Erebus Motorsport driver did not accept and warns Courtney of things to come.

“I can’t wait to be behind (Courtney) next time. Maybe he was hit from behind; I reckon he’s hit me, and then he’s been hit from behind, because every time the guy’s near me he’s just got to drill me, he just cannot help himself [and] be smart and sensible. For someone in his position right now to drive like that – this is a big weekend for us and it wasn’t even an attempt at passing move it was just a complete stuff up,” said Davison.

The stewards judged the contact to be a racing incident with no penalties issued.
