Hunter Abbott to miss FP2 following crash

Hunter Abbott will miss the second practice session at Donington Park following an incident with Jack Goff at the chicane.

The incident occurred around 25 minutes in to the opening practice session of the day while Abbott was warming his tyres before Jack Goff appeared to misjudge either his own braking point or the speed of Abbott’s car, smashing in to the rear of the Audi A4 and bringing the session to a temporary halt.

The race stewards are currently looking in to the incident.

“I think he missed his braking point,” Abbott told TouringCarTimes. “I was bedding tyres in, so I left him space and stayed on the left as much as I could. I just saw him in the rear view mirror coming towards me very, very quickly and then bang, straight up the back. There’s a lot of damage unfortunately.”

Abbott also confirmed to TouringCarTimes that he will not be back out for the second session, and that qualifying will be touch and go. Goff was unable to comment.
