Michel Nykjaer leaves TCR

Michel Nykjaer will not be returning to the TCR International Series. The Dane, whose replacement Michela Cerruti has been announced ahead of the championship’s second visit to Austria, leaves Target Competition due to budget issues with no acrimony.

“I’ve been very glad to drive for Target,” said Nykjaer to TouringCarTimes. “As a private team they have done a great job, and I hope Stefano Comini and Andrea Belicchi will continue being in the top of the championship.”

Despite the disappointment for not continuing in the championship, the Dane, who won two races in Portugal and Austria this year, is hoping to rejoin the championship as soon as possible: “TCR was my priority, and it was fun to be a part of it. I hope I can get the possibility to come back. I will now focus on my races in Denmark for the rest of the season, in the DTC and Danish SuperTourisme Turbo.”

Besides his two wins, Nykjaer collected another podium in Valencia, always at the wheel of the Target Competition SEAT León.
