Honda Racing Team glad to bounce back at Knockhill

The Honda Racing Team were delighted to put the dramas of Snetterton behind them as both Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal took victories around the tight and twisty Knockhill circuit.

With one of the worst results in the team’s history at Snetterton, the team came back at Knockhill with their heads held high, getting six top ten results, including two victories, around the 1.2 mile Scottish circuit.

“It’s good for both of us,” Shedden told TouringCarTimes. “It was important to get a good run after the melee of Snetterton, so it was brilliant to get some good points and a win a piece and to get back in the fight is great.”

Following Knockhill, Shedden now sits in second place in the points standings, just 11 points behind leader Jason Plato, while Neal moves up to third, a further 11 points adrift of his Honda team-mate. Honda Racing Team also reasserted their authority at the top of the Manufacturer’s standings, with their pair of Civic Type-Rs now leading the Triple Eight Racing MG team but 24 points.

“We certainly needed it after Snetterton,” said Neal after taking his race three victory. “But what a way to bounce back. It just shows how you need the luck on your side because Snetterton we were looking forward to we thought we’d be strong, Knockhill we weren’t. BMR have had a similar weekend to what we had at Snetterton and it just shows you how quickly it can turn around.”

The team now head to Rockingham with their heads held high, despite a potential stumbling block at Silverstone, which has historically been unfriendly to the Honda team.

“I’m looking forward to all the last three,” said Neal. “Silverstone could be a bit shaky, but I think we’ll be stronger than we’ve ever been there, the other two really looking forward to.”
