Rob Austin Racing to switch manufacturer for 2016 BTCC

Rob Austin Racing will not run their current Audi A4s in the 2016 British Touring Car Championship.
“We won’t be running it next year. We’ve had to redesign the shell, it’s on its third subframe and rocker mounts – we thought we were getting round it but this year shows we aren’t,” said Austin to autosport.com.

The team is struggling for performance this season with Austin currently placed 13th in the championship with fifth as best so far result.

“The team is working really well, given the right base car we’d be competitive. I just want to go racing without a hand behind my back,” said Austin.

Austin has so far not hinted on which model or manufacturer they would run next year but says that they are aiming for two cars.

“I’m hoping to get manufacturer support but I suppose everyone is. We’ll look at anything – it doesn’t matter what badge is on it. Front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, whatever suits the regulations best,” said Austin.
