Chaz Mostert preparing for comeback in new Ford Falcon

Chaz Mostert is going to get a brand new Ford Falcon in the 2016 V8 Supercars season as the car Cameron Waters and Steve Owen drove in the last races will be moved to the Dunlop Series this year.

”Chaz is moving into a new chassis for obvious reasons. There’s another new chassis on the floor at the moment as well, which is going to go to Frosty, but we haven’t decided exactly when,” said Tim Edwards, team manager of Prodrive Racing Australia v8supercars.com.au.

Mostert crashed hard in qualifying for the Bathurst 1000 race, leaving him injured and on the sidelines for the remainder of the 2015 season.

“It’s always a big thing but all conversations I’ve had with him, he’s fine. I spoke to him a couple of days ago and he just cannot wait for the 22nd of February to get back in the car. As you’d expect, he just loves driving the car, and he cannot wait,” said Edwards.

The 23-year-old has made his comeback behind the wheel for the first time after the crash driving a gokart.

“I was pretty excited to get behind the wheel again, try and throw some lap times down and try and get a bit of rhythm back,” said Mostert.

The season start in Adelaide at the demanding street race Clipsal 500 will be a tough place for Mostert, who broke a leg and a wrist in the Bathurst incident, to make his V8 Supercars comeback.

“From now all the way until then, every day I have to do hard, hard work to help that transition back into the car – I don’t think there will be any major issues. I think the test day will be good, it will be good to get as many laps as I can and get back in the rhythm with the car because I haven’t driven that for quite a few months. I definitely won’t be running marathons anytime soon but I don’t think I’m going to have trouble racing a V8 Supercar,” said Mostert.
