Pierre-Yves Corthals and Antti Buri added to Spa field

Belgian driver Pierre-Yves Corthals and Finnish driver Antti Buri have been added to the field for this weekend’s round of the TCR International Series in Belgium, bringing the field up to 18 cars for the fourth round of the championship.

Corthals will be the only Belgian driver taking part in his home race, driving a SEAT León TCR run by Ferry Monster Motorsport as team-mate to Dutchman Loris Hezemans, who again returns to the fold for a second consecutive race weekend with the team. Corthals has extensive experience in touring cars, racing for many years in the World Touring Car Championship, racing for JAS Motorsport in the 2006 season in the team’s Honda Accord, and made his last appearance in his home race at Zolder in 2010 in an Exagon Engineering prepared SEAT León TFSI.

Antti Buri will be making his International Series debut after competing in the first two rounds of the ADAC TCR Germany series, winning the second race at the Sachsenring two days ago. The Finnish driver will be racing for front-running Belgian squad Team WRT, who also prepare the Leopard Racing entries of Stefano Comini and Jean-Karl Vernay.

The addition of two Peugeot 308 Racing Cup cars for Jimmy Clairet and Grégory Guilvert, run by Sébastien Loeb Racing, help make up for the defecit from the departure of Top Run Motorsport’s Subarus, Mulsanne Racing’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Target Competition’s Opel Astras over the first three rounds, with all three marques due to return to the grid later in the season.
