Andrew Jordan extends indie points lead after strong weekend at Croft

Motorbase Performance’s Andrew Jordan hailed his Motorbase Performance team for a swift engine and gearbox change at Croft, with two top-five finishes seeing the 2013 champion extend his lead over Speedworks’ Tom Ingram in the independents’ classification.

Jordan ran a steady Race 1 to finish in fifth, but was shuffled down the order in a busy start for Race 2, before working his way forward from ninth to fifth as the rain-hit the North Yorkshire circuit for the final race of the day just after 5pm.

“I’m really happy with this weekend,” said Jordan. “The guys pulled off a miracle between Races 1 and 2, having the engine out, building a new gearbox, and getting it and the engine back in. We’ve extended our independents’ points lead, so it’s been a pretty good weekend.”

Croft certainly favoured the rear-wheel drive BMWs and Subarus as is typically the case, with Jordan accepting the best results possible given the nature of the circuit.

“It is what it is around here. I’m happy with the points we’ve got,” said Jordan. “I’m also happy with the car. We still need to improve race pace a bit but we have a two-day test in Snetterton coming up where we’ve got a few things to try out.”
