Adam Morgan hails testing progress after Snetterton success

Adam Morgan hailed the progress made by his Ciceley Racing team and engineer Marco Calovolo in the recent Snetterton tyre test, after posting the third best time in qualifying at the same circuit today.

The former Ginetta Supercup champion bounced back from disappointing rounds at Oulton Park and Croft by posting front-running times all day, eventually missing out on pole by just 0.028 seconds.

Morgan declared himself confident of at least matching that result on race day.

“The last two rounds for us have been pretty poor. We wanted to get back at the sharp end where we should be, and get more points in the championship,” said Morgan to TouringCarTimes.

“That two-day tyre test was a massive benefit to every team. My engineer Marco found something on the car which is really working, and the car is brilliant to drive. I can push it harder and harder and it’s giving me enough to let me do it.

“I’m confident for tomorrow. I’ve just got to get it off the line in P3 and keep out of trouble, and a podium would be lovely. Overall we’re looking for three good finishes.”

Despite his clear pace, there were a couple of sideways moments for the Lancastrian, which provided spectacular viewing for those trackside.

“The nature of this circuit is you tend to jump on the brakes really hard and you end up locking the rears sometimes. I ‘Scandi-flicked’ it into a few corners, which looks cool but is slow!” he added.

“You have to be on the ragged edge sometimes, but the old saying is smooth is fast. I think it’s our highest ever qualifying, so it’s a good day.”
