Ginetta front-runner Will Burns earns Team HARD test

Ginetta GT4 Supercup front-runner Will Burns is to sample a BTCC machine for the first time after confirming that he will join Team HARD for a test at Snetterton later this week.

Burns, who took three wins this season en-route to second in the championship, will sample one of the Toyota Avensis as raced by Jake Hill and Michael Epps during 2016 as he evaluates his options for the 2017 campaign.

The test comes on the back of a solid debut in prototype racing at the weekend, where Burns showed front-running pace at the wheel of a Ginetta G57 at Spa during the latest meeting of the V de V Endurance Championship season.

“I’ve always watched the BTCC ever since I was a child and ever since I started racing I’ve wanted to drive a touring car, so this is an amazing opportunity,” he said. “The front-wheel drive Avensis is something completely different to anything I’ve driven before.

“With that in mind, I’m not going into the test with any huge expectations. It’s a chance for me to try something new and if I can get close to the pace first time out, then I’d be delighted. I can’t wait to get out on track at Snetterton!”

Club racer Martin James is also due to test with the team this week.
