Chaz Mostert breaks DJR Team Penske dominance to take victory

Chaz Mostert was able to break the DJR Team Penske dominance of the non-championship round in Melbourne, by winning the fourth and final race as punctures struck the early leaders of the race.

Race one and three winner Fabian Coulthard started from pole and held the lead for the first part of the race, until he was forced into the pits due to a puncture.

This handed the lead over to Triple Eight Race Engineering driver Jamie Whincup, who suffered the same fate as Coulthard a couple of laps later

Mostert was second behind Whincup and inherited a lead he was to keep until the chequered flag, winning the race ten seconds ahead of championship leader Shane van Gisbergen and Holden driver Tim Slade.

Two Nissan Motorsport drivers followed in positions four and five in the form of Todd Kelly and Michael Caruso.

Coulthard still managed to claim the overall victory of the weekend thanks to his two victories, despite dropping down to finish in 20th in the final race.

The championship resumes on April 9th at Symmons Plains.
