Thompson doubles up

James Thompson has won today’s (Sunday) second round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent. Thompson (Harrogate), driving SEAT’s new Leon model, led all the way from pole position to add to the victory he achieved in the day’s first race.

Colin Turkington (Portadown), in Team RAC’s MG, finished second ahead of reigning Champion Matt Neal’s (Droitwich) Team Halfords Honda Integra in third.

Round three of the BTCC at Brands Hatch is scheduled to start at 15.50 and will be shown live on ITV1. The starting grid order will be the finishing order of race two but with the top seven positions reversed.

The number of cars swapped this year is decided by the winner of the day’s second race – Thompson – drawing a card. It means that Vauxhall’s Tom Chilton (Reigate), who finished round two in seventh, will start round three from the front of the grid.
