Tribute to Brock at Bathurst revealed
The organisers of Bathurst 1000 will hold a big ceremony for Peter Brock at the upcoming race in October. V8 Supercars Australia will organise the tribute during the morning of the raceday and will also name the winners trophy in his honour. The trophy will feature Brock’s nickname “King of the Mountain”.
“We want to do what we feel is most appropriate and with the full support of Peter’s family,” said V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane to Autosport.
“One of the things that we are very conscious of is that Peter would not have wanted any changes made to the format of the Great Race as first and foremost he was a fierce competitor.
“By naming the trophy we forever honour his name. I dare say that no-one will ever match his record at Mount Panorama so there is no more fitting tribute than for the winners of the race to be afforded the honour.”
The race is held on October the 8th and will include a Champions Lap of Honour where many of the cars that Brock have raced will be run. Brock’s sun James, Jim Richard, Mark Skaife, Craig Lowndes and Larry Perkins are some of the drivers expected to take part in the event.
