Radisich out for rest of season
Team Kiwi Racing driver Paul Radisich will be out of action for the remainder of the V8 Supercar season. He has suffered a broken sternum and broken ankle as a result of a high speed accident at the Supercheap Bathurst 1000 at Mt Panorama on Sunday. Radisich hit a tyre wall at more than 200kph after attempting to avoid another car.
Team Kiwi Racing owner David John said Radisich also suffered windpipe bruising and was having some difficulty breathing as a result of the injuries but would make a full recovery.
Radisich was expected to be discharged from hospital in Sydney in the next 48 hours and would return back to Melbourne with his wife Patricia.
However he will not return to racing this season, although is keen to get back behind the driver’s wheel as soon as possible.
Mr John said the relatively minor nature of the injuries was a testament to the car design and the safety measures including the HANs safety device. He also praised the swift intervention of the emergency crews.
Mr John said no decision had been made on a replacement driver.
