Adam Jones scores podium at Silverstone
The weekend saw Adam Jones at Silverstone driving the Seat Leon run for him by GR-Asia and sponsored by local businesses Air Cool Engineering, Bodywork (Solihull) and Wheelmania in Round 9 of the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Qualifying on Saturday did not go according to plan with a technical problem affecting the cars performance leaving Adam to start the race on Sunday in 12th place but confident that the Team would be able to resolve the problem overnight.
Sunday saw the cars line up for Race 1 under changeable conditions and the decision was taken to start on dry tyres but after only a few laps it started to rain heavily and the car came in for a change to wet tyres which left Adam to rejoin in last place from which he battled his way through the field to finish in an incredible 8th place.
In Race 2 Adam again had plenty of action and steadily made his way through the field to finish in 3rd place and this was followed up by an amazing Race 3 where Adam was battling with the front runners and earned himself 2nd place as the flag went down.
Speaking after his second podium celebration of the day Adam has this to say: “I think our performance today has proved how competitive we are and it was a great result for the whole Team and our sponsors. The competition was hard in all three races and the other drivers were tough but fair. At the start of the season I wouldn’t have believed that I would be in a strong 3rd position in the Independent drivers standings as we go to Brands Hatch in two weeks for the final rounds.”
