Rockingham media day picture special

The season start of the British Touring Car Championship 2009 is not far away. Two weeks from today the series will kick off at Brands Hatch. Last week the teams gathered for the annual media day and official test session at Rockingham.

Team RAC dominated the session with Colin Turkington fastest and Stephen Jelley third.

Reigning champion Fabrizio Giovanardi was second fastest. The Italian could be historic this year if he takes a third title in succession. But that fact was nothing Giovanardi had in his mind during the day.

“We knew the competition would be tough this season and this test has shown there are a number of teams with the potential to challenge us.

We had a good test; we tried a number of set-up changes which were very useful. The car felt very good by the end of the afternoon, although I think there was still some time left in it,” said Giovanardi.

The entry list was released during the day and it featured 21 cars and drivers. The majority of them was present during the day at Rockingham and TouringCarTimes are proud to be able to present a picture special from the day.
