Vauxhall: “We have to be careful of BMW”
While the spirits and expectations are high in the Vauxhall team, reigning champion and Vauxhall-man Fabrizio Giovanardi raises a warning for the BMW’s ahead of the season premiere.
“I won two of the three races at this track last year, so I will be expecting to match or better this, however we will have to be careful of the BMWs,” said Giovanardi.
The Italian was fastest during the final pre season test at Brands Hatch, the place for the BTCC premiere this weekend, but with the BMW close behind him.
“I don’t think they have shown us their full potential and with four of these on the grid, they could give us some trouble. The short Indy circuit keeps the lap times close and it is set up which is key here,” said Giovanardi.
Team mate and previous BTCC champion Matt Neal agrees with Giovanardi that the opposition has not shown its full potential in the pre season testing.
“It’s going to be close, but I don’t think some of our competitors have shown their full hand yet,” said Neal.
The third Vauxhall-driver Andrew Jordan has full confidence in his team for the season start and is keen to get going.
“I’m keen to get back out racing as it’s been a long winter off and with a great car, a first-class crew and the best engineers in the paddock, I’m all set to go out to win,” said Jordan.
