Airwaves BMW wants revenge at Donington
After a quite modest weekend at the previous race at Thruxton for Airwaves BMW, the team is looking forward to a good weekend at Donington Park on May the 16/17th.
“From a team point of view I think we will be a lot stronger there than we were at Thruxton. We did okay considering the problems that we had, but we really want to get back on the front foot at Donington and score well,” said Rob Collard.
Collard started the BTCC season at Brands Hatch with 29 points, but “only” scored 12 points at Thruxton.
“From my own point of view it will be really important to pick up as many points as possible, I can put myself right back in the title mix with a good performance this weekend,” said Collard.
Team mate Jonathan Adam came very close to scoring a win in the BTCC premiere, but was penalized and moved to second after his incident with Jason Plato. At Thruxton he scored zero points, a weekend he wants to forget.
“I’m raring to go to Donington and do well so I can put the last round behind me. I want to get back to a front-running pace and take three good results away from the weekend,” said Adam.
Team boss David Bartrum is pleased with the season start so far, despite the low scoring weekend at Thruxton, and hopes to kick up a gear at Donington.
“It’s been a really exciting season so far for Airwaves BMW, and the championship as a whole, and I’m enjoying every minute of it. I’m happy with the way both Jonny and Rob have been performing, and they are working really well together and with the guys in the garage.
Now we just have to kick up a gear and get on with it to make sure we get some really strong results at Donington.”
