Pirtek complete first laps with NGTC Vectra

Pirtek Racing have become the first team to complete testing laps with the Next Generation Touring Car engine, built by Swindon Engines, to be phased in over the next few years.

The team had a shakedown run at Snetterton on Tuesday, despite the weather, and moved to the Rockingham circuit today.

Andrew Jordan, who raced in the Vectra last year for the works Vauxhall team, would have already been familiar with the car, but the switch from the Sodemo prepared Vauxhall power-unit, to the Swindon engine would have been new.

“It was great to finally get the car out on track, when you’ve not been in the car all winter you begin to get a bit fidgety, so I was raring to go on Tuesday morning! Unfortunately the weather hampered our development slightly, but we have made a good start.”

The team will take part in several other tests before the series official test and media event on March 23rd at Brands Hatch.
