Frentzen set for V8 SuperCarnivale Event

German driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen is set to be confirmed for the new SuperCarnivale event which will take place at Surfers Paradise in October.

The event is designed to bring international interest back to the event, with each V8 Supercar team running a driver from other disciplines across the world in their team at the Gold Coast.

An upcoming deadline of March 19th is set to see 17 international competitors confirmed to take part in the event, which will bolster the famous Gold Coast race which previously held a round of the Champcar World Series alongside the V8 Supercars Championship.

Yvan Muller has previously been reported to be set to drive for Castrol Racing as well as at the regular endurance rounds at Philip Island & Bathurst, depending upon the rescheduled WTCC race – but now Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who recently tried his hand at endurance racing competing in the Le Mans 24 Hour race for the Prodrive run Aston Martin squad, is set to join the V8’s.

With Prodrive the force behind the Ford Performance Racing squad, as well as former Jordan team Commercial Manager Tim Edwards at the helm of FPR, they would seem the obvious choice, though eNews reports FPR have another driver in mind and that Frentzen is more likely to share with new Stone Brothers Racing driver Tim Slade instead.
