Jason Plato fastest at first official test

Jason Plato topped the first official British Touring Car Championship test session of the year. The Chevrolet Cruze-driver lapped the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in 48.662, a time that was 0.155 seconds faster than Gordon Shedden in the Honda Civic.

Third fastest was Steven Kane, who topped the morning session, in his Airwaves BMW 320si, a further four thousands of a second behind.

Tom Chilton was fastest of the LPG powered Team Aon Ford Focus in fourth position, 0.167 seconds slower than Plato.

Previous BTCC champion Matt Neal was fifth fastest ahead of West Surrey Racing driver Robert Collard.

Fastest of the BTCC newcomers was Alex MacDowall, driving the Silverline Chevrolet, in seventh position, four tenths behind his team mate Plato.
