Tom Onslow-Cole eyeing future V8SC switch (update)

Tom Onslow-Cole is looking at options outside of the British Touring Car Championship in the future, including a plan to break into the Australian V8 Supercars Championship.
“The plan is to try and secure a deal for next year a lot sooner than it happened for me this time,” said Onslow-Cole to Your Local Guardian.

But a switch from racing back home in the UK to racing in a top level series on the other side of the world is not something Onslow-Cole is expecting to be easy.

“I really want to get into the Australian V8s next, but that involves building a reputation and doing some testing for a team. Everything is going to have to fit with that,” said Onslow Cole.

Onslow-Cole is one of the four title contenders for the final BTCC race of this year at Brands Hatch this weekend, driving a gas-powered Ford Focus for Team Aon.

UPDATE: This article has been updated as it previously indicated via quotes to Your Local Guardian that Onslow-Cole was looking at moving into the V8 Supercars Australia championship in 2011, whereas Tom has expressed it’s a future aspiration only at this point.
