Shedden collects BRDC Silver Star
Gordon Shedden collected his BRDC Silver Star award at the BRDC Annual Awards ceremony at the Savoy Hotel last night.
Shedden, who finished third in the British Touring Car Championship’s standings, topped all other drivers in the national series according to the BRDC Award’s scoring system.
Shedden had his most successful season in the BTCC to date, finishing third with a shot of the title going into the final weekend at Brands Hatch.
The Honda Racing Team driver has already been confirmed to be staying with the team next season. They will continue to run the Honda Civic, but will switch to the new regulation 2.0 turbo NGTC engines.
Andy Priaulx had previously been awarded the BRDC Gold Star for his achievements in the World Touring Car Championship, but with the points close at the top of the BRDC’s table, after Priaulx’s second place finish at Okayama was excluded, the award instead went to Formula 1 driver Mark Webber.
Dario Franchitti, who made his V8 Supercars debut this year at the Gold Coast 600 after winning his third Indycar Series title, was presented with the Earl Howe Trophy as well as a Special Gold Star for his performances in the top level US Single Seater championship.
