35 cars to compete in the CTM Macau Cup

The CTM Macau Cup, which is supporting the WTCC this weekend will feature 35 entries from Hong Kong, Macau, China, Japan and the Philippines.

As an invitational round for the Asian Touring Car Series (ATCS), Hideharu Kuroki, Ricardo Lopes, Danny Chau Kwok San and Chan Wing Siu of Team IMSP are going to be competing in this race. The ATCS class grid is also extended with Wong Kwai Wah of Son Veng Racing and Yu Kam Cheong, who have competed in selected rounds of this year’s ATCS.

In addition to the ATCS teams, the top teams of the Hong Kong (HTCC) and Macau (MTCS) Touring Car Championships will also compete in this event. China Dragon Racing, the overall champion of HTCC, is not only entering Paul Poon and Samson Fung with a pair of Chevrolet Lacettis, but also Alexander Lanson Lin in a Honda Civic EP3.

Jeronimo Badaraco, the driver champion of MTCS’ N2000 class last year, will drive his familiar Honda Integra DC5 prepared by Son Veng Racing, while the teams’ champion Five Auto Racing will field three cars, including Cheang Kuok Hang in the ex-Engstrom Motorsport Honda Accord, also with Eurico de Jesus and Wong Kiang Kuan in their home-tuned Honda Integras.

Some drivers from China Touring Car Championship will also join the grid, including Guo Hai Seng (TSB Racing’s Honda Integra), Lin Li Feng (Honda Integra), Sun Zheng, Rainey He (both Sun and He will drive Team Ghiasport’s Honda Integras) Zhang Han Biao (TSB Racing’s Honda Accord) and Andy Yan (Honda Integra). 778 Autosport’s drivers Lo Hui Pui and Lo Ka Fai (both of them will drive Honda Civic FD2s), whilst Lo Ka Chun is competing in the WTCC race with a Peugeot 308.

The majority of the competitors are taking part in a widerange of Honda built toruing cars, such as the Super-2000 spec Accord CL7s, Integra DC5s, Civic EP3s and FD2s, but there are still a pair of BMWs (driven by Macanese drivers Liu Lic Ka and Henry Ho) and Toyota in the entry list, which guarantees a promising Pan-Asian touring car race.

The qualifying session of the Macau Cup will be held at 13:05 local time on Friday.
