Leong Ian Veng takes CTM Macau Cup pole

Leong Ian Veng of Son Veng Racing took pole position for the CTM Macau Cup at the Guia street circuit.

Leong clocked the fastest time of the day with 2:41.669, with a 0.227 second lead from second placed man Paul Poon in the China Dragon Racing Chevrolet Lacetti. Poon was the fastest driver in Thursday’s free practice and aiming to defend his title this weekend.

Hong Kong’s Andy Yan was third fastest around the 6.2km Guia circuit, and will start from the second row alongside Macanese driver Ho Wai Kun, who was fourth quickest in a BMW 320si. Completing the top five was Chinese driver Zhang Han Biao in a Honda Accord.

The CTM Macau Cup will be held on Saturday at 11.20am local time.
