Adam Morgan to race for Speedworks Motorsport
It has been announced that Speedworks Motorsports will run 2011 Ginetta GT Supercup Champion Adam Morgan in a second NGTC Toyota Avensis.
Winning what many consider is the largest prize in British motorsport in 2012, Morgan’s Championship win earned him a Ginetta funded BTCC season in an NGTC car. Ginetta boss Lawrence Tomlinson confirmed on stage at the Autosport show today that this drive would be with Speedworks Motorsport.
This announcement represents a double in size for Speedworks who fielded one NGTC Toyota Avensis for Tony Hughes in 2011. Both Morgan and Hughes hope to be on track for testing in the coming weeks ahead of the 2012 season opener at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 31 March-1 April.
Speedworks’ newest driver Morgan had the following to say about the announcement:
“I am extremely happy to be racing with Speedworks this year. They are a very professional and determined team, and I am sure with some pre-season testing we will be able to hit the ground running. Once again I would like to say a massive thank you to Ginetta for this incredible prize, and I am looking forward to work with them in 2012.”
Speedworks Motorsport Team Principal Christian Dick had the following to add:
“All of us at Speedworks Motorsport are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Ginetta Cars and we are very excited that Adam will be driving for us in 2012. As well as being a very likable young man, he’s proven himself to be a very quick, competent driver inside of just two years of car racing. He has a very bright future and we are proud to be part of that.”
