Tech-Speed set for return with turbo Cruze

Tech-Speed Motorsport plan to return at the tail-end of this season with a turbocharged Chevrolet Cruze with Production Touring Car Trophy driver Joe Girling.

The Warwickshire-based team entered the 2011 season with the ex-RML Chevrolet Cruzes used by Jason Plato and Alex MacDowall in 2010, but struggled for results as the normally aspirated cars were out of favour compared to the new turbocharged engines being used by the majority of the field.

The team has so far sat out the 2012 season, , but according to AUTOSPORT, now plans to return in October at either Silverstone or Brands Hatch with 22-year-old Production Touring Car Trophy (PTCT) driver Joe Girling at the wheel.

Neil Brown Engines have been tasked with developing the engine, which has to be a GM engine to be installed in the Cruze, which will be Neil Brown’s third different specification of engine on the grid as they already produce all the Honda and BMW engines used by the Honda teams and West Surrey Racing. Courtenay Sport, which run Girling in the PTCT in a Vauxhall Astra VXR and are the 2010-2011 PTCT champions, will build the Neil Brown developed engine.
