Jack Goff “90 per cent there” on 2014 campaign

Former Clio Cup champion Jack Goff says he is “90 per cent there” in pulling together a budget for another season in the BTCC, and is keen to join forces with Tony Gilham Racing once again.

The 22-year-old says securing a seat depends on signing some more sponsorship deals following this weekend’s Autosport International Show, as he looks to build on a strong end to 2013.

Goff finished a fantastic second in the sodden conditions of the Brands Hatch finale, harrying 2012 champion Gordon Shedden all the way to the flag.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes at the Autosport Show, Goff said: “The aim is to be in touring cars again, and we should know more next week. We are probably 90 per cent of the way there.

“I’ve got a couple of sponsors who are teetering on the edge, and hopefully we can come away from the show, do a few deals with those guys, and get back on the grid this year.

“It is not quite there yet, but we are in a better position now than we were last year at this time, so we have got to keep pushing for those last few seats which are available.

“I’d like to be back with the guys I was with last year. Towards the end of the year we started to really get the car working right, and the team gelled nicely.

“To be back with the same team would be nice. The car goes well in the wet, and it is about getting it right in the dry now. I think with testing we should be somewhere near, because we had no testing at all last year.

“If we can get some testing in, then we could be up there mixing it.”
