Mixed session for pace-setter Andrew Jordan

Reigning champion Andrew Jordan said he had a mixed media day test session, despite ending on top of the times.

Heavy rain just over an hour into the session curtailed Jordan’s dry running, but he said he was delighted with how his car performed in the wet.

Jordan’s Eurotech Racing squad will now prepare for the season opener at Brands Hatch, and will not be testing again before arriving in Kent.

Speaking to TouringCarTimes, Jordan said: “We were just about to put some new tyres on it when it rained, so we didn’t achieve much, to be honest. But we rolled out with our standard wet setup, and the car was fantastic.

“We tried a few little things, but we had a lot to work through in the dry. It’s frustrating, but it’s one of those things.

“It’s nice to be quickest, but that’s only because we were quickest at the time. We won’t know [where we are] until qualifying at Brands. The races are what score you points.”

After a winter getting used to the champion tag, Jordan is now raring to go in his title defence.

He said:  “It excites me and I want to do it again. It has whetted the appetite for it, and I want to keep it.

“I’m really happy and relaxed, and buzzing to get going.

“I think we are well-prepared as it is, so we need to make sure we have got everything in place for Brands. We didn’t see the point in cramming in another test.”
