Craft-Bamboo Racing confirm TCR Asia Series entry
Craft-Bamboo Racing have confirmed they will be entering this year’s inaugural TCR Asia Series, in addition to their programmes in the TCR International Series and the FIA World Touring Car Championship.
The UK-Hong Kong based team will run under the Craft-Bamboo Racing banner in the five event series, which begins in August at the Zhuhai International Circuit in China.
The team already compete in the international series with drivers Pepe Oriola, Jordi Gené and Sergey Afanasyev, where they are in the hunt for the drivers’ title after taking two victories already this season, and have also returned to the WTCC where they field a Chevrolet RML Cruze TC1 for Grégoire Demoustier.
“Craft-Bamboo Racing is a firm believer in the TCR platform, with the International Series producing some fantastic racing that is adored by drivers and fans alike,” said team principal Richard Coleman. “We hope that the TCR Asia series can follow in its footsteps and give Asia’s motorsport fans an exciting new race series that will help promote the sport of touring car racing in Asia.”
TCR Asia Series CEO David Sonenscher added:
“It is great to have Craft-Bamboo Racing involved in the inaugural TCR Asia Series season as they bring with them their solid background from the international series. Having yet another high calibre Asian team added to the championship is fantastic and this will provide even more competition, which means even greater racing for motorsport fans.”
