Romeo Ferraris pushing for second Giulietta TCR in Portugal
John Gentry has begun a new adventure in touring car racing. One of the most experienced engineers in motorsport, the Brit is now taking care of Michela Cerruti’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR after teaming up with Romeo Ferraris and Mulsanne Racing to follow the project.
After a long history of Formula One, Moto GP and touring cars, most recently working with Tiago Monteiro in the WTCC at Honda, the engineer says Michela Cerruti’s presence was a major plus for him to join the project: “I wrote to Mario Ferraris, saying I was interested on working for him, not realising that Miki (Michela Cerruti) was already driving for the team. I’d worked with her in Auto GP, where she won at Imola and finished on the podium in Monza, so that sealed the deal for me.”
Gentry describes the Giulietta TCR as interesting, saying the car has good potential: “The Alfa Romeo is an interesting car; it needs some refining as we built it quite quickly, but I think it could be quite successful.”
The team’s goal is to finish a second Giulietta in time for Estoril: “We’re still modifying it but our aim is to have two cars in Estoril.”
