Eurotech Racing expand to three cars from Thruxton

Eurotech Racing will expand to three cars from Thruxton onwards after announcing that Daniel Lloyd will join the team at the next meeting.

Speaking after race one at Donington Park, the team confirmed that they had secured the TBL vacated by Team Dynamics following Andy Neate’s departure from the team after the Brands Hatch meeting.

The deal was signed at Donington Park on Sunday (17th April) morning, following a week of hard work from both Eurotech and Lloyd to make the deal come to fruition at the earliest opportunity.

“I tested with the team ahead of the season and I was immediately impressed with the way it operated,” said Lloyd, who has previous experience in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Blancpain Endurance Series, British GT and the United Sportscar Championship. “I have been looking to do the British Touring Car Championship for a long, long time and it is the biggest championship in the country.

“It is going to be a step in to the unknown for me to start with, but I want to get familiar with the car quickly and be challenging for podiums – although starting at Thruxton is going to be an eye-opener. I need to gain confidence, but with the crew around me I am sure that won’t take long.”

The team have been loaned the final TBL from TOCA for the remainder of the 2016 season.

“It’s what we wanted to and Alan (Gow) was aware we wanted a TBL if it became available,” said Smith to TouringCarTimes. “We have a quick driver in the car now which will help me and Martin move forwards. It’ll take him a few rounds to find his feet as there is a big step into the BTCC but he has always been quick. It was hard to put the deal together as I got the call from Alan to see if I could get the car out for Donington and we couldn’t, but the time for Thruxton will be fine with a lot of hard work. We kept the three car team together in case we could get a licence and we are ready to go. Hopefully we can get a test in before Thruxton as that isn’t the place to go out in the car for the first time in the dry.”
