Colin Turkington aiming to make up lost ground at Donington Park
Team BMW’s Colin Turkington is aiming for a strong points haul this weekend at the Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire after a tough opening round of the season at Brands Hatch two weeks ago.
The two-time champion missed the first race after an incident with Team Dynamics’ Matt Neal, and was forced to work his way forward through the next race, making the most of a good grid position for the reversed grid Race 3 to take second – but wants to avoid a repeat this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to Donington as it’s a great track and one where I’ve won in the past,” said Turkington.
“Unfortunately, being taken out at the start at Brands Hatch has left us with some ground to make up in the points race – even at this early stage of the season – because the BTCC is one of those series where you have to maximise every race.
“The front-wheel-drive cars are usually at a bit of an advantage at Donington, but the BMW bucked that trend by winning last year, so I’m optimistic about what we can achieve.”
