Andrew Jordan chasing podium push at Thruxton
Andrew Jordan says he is keen to challenge for a return to the podium positions when the BTCC heads for Thruxton for the third meeting of the season.
The BMW Pirtek Racing driver secured victory on his debut with the West Surrey Racing team at Brands Hatch, but then endured a more troubled weekend last time out at Donington Park.
Jordan’s home event yielded just two 15th place finishes as he slipped to seventh in the championships standings, although he will now hope to move back up the standings at one of his strongest circuits on the calendar.
In fact, Jordan has scored half of his six career poles at the Hampshire circuit and has taken nine podium finishes – including a victory last season whilst with Motorbase.
“Donington last time out was a tough weekend as we showed great pace with the BMW but just didn’t have any luck,” he said. “That’s behind us now, and the focus is firmly on securing the best results possible when we get to Thruxton.
“Thruxton is my favourite circuit on the calendar and it holds some great memories for me – and has provided a few highlights on YouTube of some ‘on the edge’ laps across the years! It’s a circuit that I am always excited about visiting, and this season is no different.
“One of the big strengths of the BMW is that it is good on its tyres, which is something that is particularly important over a race distance at Thruxton.
“My aim is to maintain the strong record I have shown there in the past and challenge for podium finishes, and obviously to try and secure a victory for a second successive season.”
